002 /// Poké-Video, Video -- Backdated to Feb. 12, 2013

[When the feed clicks on, it shows the hail falling outside, though with the nice tiled floor of a building on the inside of the window. Wherever it is, it seems like the floor the pokégear is being recorded on isn’t ground level, at the least. That’s before the camera turns to show a Meowth, its eyes sparkling as she adjusts it further until, at last, the camera stills.

Said Meowth purrs briefly before clearing her throat, nodding to the camera.]

Hyyyaaarro!

[Hey, she’s got it! It almost sounded like ‘Hello’! The Meowth seems all too pleased with itself before it tries again, fully intending on having a conversation with someone out there. Master won’t mind if it’s for her practicing as long as she’s not in the base when she’s doing it, right?]

Ee rrrranch shoo shaak shoo a hyuuman purrrrreee? Ee need shoo purrrreeac-ich hyuuman shkeech sho ee cyan reyan rore a-ooch shem! Shank yuu ery myuuch!

[[Translation: Hello! I want to talk to a human please? I need to practice human speech so I can learn more about them! Thank you very much!]]

[Later in the evening, the video feed from Chase’s gear comes back on with him looking just slightly irritated, still wearing his work clothing as it seems like he’s in the break room of the Game Corner in Goldenrod City. It doesn’t seem like it’s work related however, as the reason why becomes apparent when he speaks.]

What does it mean when pokémon do not evolve when they reach the levels that they evolve at? My Bagon has evolved into Shelgon just fine, but my Meowth has yet to do so -- despite that she should have evolved last week. I wish to know what holds them back from doing so if it isn’t their trainers preventing their change.

[[OoC: Take your pick! Do you talk to Meowth while she has stolen the gear and wants the spotlight, or do you talk to Chase later on in the day when he's found his wayward pokémon and answer his questions about evolution? Please say in the subject header so I know who to respond with!]]

That's weird. Mine just evolved at level thirty even though all the info available said it would happen at level twenty-eight. Maybe it's a Meowth thing?

So Catherine wouldn't have learned that one if she had evolved at the earliest time possible?

[That explains a lot.]

They must, as I knew nothing about Pay Day until this morning. It was her own choice. Maybe there are other attacks yours wants to learn first?

...Speak. As in, human language? How can a cat speak in the first place, whether it has evolved or not?

With that kind of motivation she'll be reciting classics in no time. How long has she been practicing?

That's to be expected, considering the shape of their mouths and throats. Still, considering the time it takes before children speak she's progressing very quickly.

They do seem much smarter than pets would be, barring a few exceptions. Does she show interest in other human activities, or is talking enough for her?

Well, we do want to learn more about Pokémon. It shouldn't be surprising that the opposite is also true.
