002 /// Poké-Video, Video -- Backdated to Feb. 12, 2013
[When the feed clicks on, it shows the hail falling outside, though with the nice tiled floor of a building on the inside of the window. Wherever it is, it seems like the floor the pokégear is being recorded on isn’t ground level, at the least. That’s before the camera turns to show a Meowth, its eyes sparkling as she adjusts it further until, at last, the camera stills.
Said Meowth purrs briefly before clearing her throat, nodding to the camera.]
Hyyyaaarro!
[Hey, she’s got it! It almost sounded like ‘Hello’! The Meowth seems all too pleased with itself before it tries again, fully intending on having a conversation with someone out there. Master won’t mind if it’s for her practicing as long as she’s not in the base when she’s doing it, right?]
Ee rrrranch shoo shaak shoo a hyuuman purrrrreee? Ee need shoo purrrreeac-ich hyuuman shkeech sho ee cyan reyan rore a-ooch shem! Shank yuu ery myuuch!
[[Translation: Hello! I want to talk to a human please? I need to practice human speech so I can learn more about them! Thank you very much!]]
-----
[Later in the evening, the video feed from Chase’s gear comes back on with him looking just slightly irritated, still wearing his work clothing as it seems like he’s in the break room of the Game Corner in Goldenrod City. It doesn’t seem like it’s work related however, as the reason why becomes apparent when he speaks.]
What does it mean when pokémon do not evolve when they reach the levels that they evolve at? My Bagon has evolved into Shelgon just fine, but my Meowth has yet to do so -- despite that she should have evolved last week. I wish to know what holds them back from doing so if it isn’t their trainers preventing their change.
[[OoC: Take your pick! Do you talk to Meowth while she has stolen the gear and wants the spotlight, or do you talk to Chase later on in the day when he's found his wayward pokémon and answer his questions about evolution? Please say in the subject header so I know who to respond with!]]

[Video forever and I am looking forward to when her English is better]

[Translation: Thank you! I thought that the best way to practice would be to have conversations with people, and this is the first time I'm talking to someone other than Master. Please tell me how I do.]

You're doing wonderfully! I can tell you're trying really hard. I bet it won't be longer until you can speak as good as any human.

Ee ahm Murrreowsh. Purrreeashed shoo murreech ooo. Do ooo myiiind eesh Ee ashk a foo kurrrreshtionsh?
[Translation: I am Meowth. Pleased to meet you. Do you mind if I ask a few questions?]

[Translation: Why do humans wear clothing?]
no subject
To keep them warm, and... for modesty reasons. Although I don't understand that part much myself. I wasn't a human before coming here.

Rrrat rrr oo eefurore? Rrr oo a purrrokémyon?
[Translation: You weren't? What were you before? Were you a pokémon?]

Rrrike Purroneecha buch eech's nyoch rrrone?
[Translation: Like Ponyta but it's not one?]
no subject
Kind of... but the point is, I'm not used to wearing clothes all the time, so I don't really understand them either. We sometimes used them for warmth, or to look pretty, but that's it.
no subject
[Thoughtful look. Meaning that she still doesn't get it.]
[Translation: But humans have warm buildings to stay in...]
no subject
I think they like being extra, extra warm... Maybe...

Dyuu uu nyow rrry hyuumansh yuuush purrrokébyallsh shoo cyatch ush? Ssshome ohh ush rrrood nnnnnyoin uu iih uu aaashk.
[Translation: I wonder what else makes humans different than pokémon...
Do you know why humans use pokéballs to catch us? Some of us would join you if you asked.]

[video] Chase!
Can the pokémon choose when they evolve, I wonder.
[Hmm... Perhaps even tamed pokémon were not as subservient as he first imagined, at least not naturally.]
[That explains a lot.]
They must, as I knew nothing about Pay Day until this morning. It was her own choice. Maybe there are other attacks yours wants to learn first?
[Frowning.]
... She's also the only one of my pokémon that has any interest in learning how to speak.
That, and she got the nerve to steal my pocket gear earlier in order to practice conversation with others.
[Still not too happy that she stole the gear. Granted, it means she's got some evil potential in her, but she stole from him. How far can he trust that pokémon to do his bidding...]
But, despite all that, she is quite intelligent.

[Meowth video]
Wait, that's off topic.]
Ee'm reyaning oooh shoo shaaak ing hyuuman shkeech, of coooooorsh!
[Translation: I'm learning how to talk in human speech, of course!]
Why in the world would you want do that?
eekaash Ee rrranch shoo rrreyan murrrooor a-ooch shem. Hyuumansh arrrr fuashinaching!
[Translation: Because I want to learn more about them. Humans are fascinating!]
Because I want to learn more about them. I find humans fascinating but I wasn't able to focus on trying to learn more before I was caught.

video - Meowth
You're off to a stunning start, I must say. As a Pokémon with simiyar experience, I find myself highary impressed.
How rrryyylong have you been practicing?
Video forever
Ee hyaak been purrreeachishing furrrr aa murrrunch. Murrrashter'sh been hyeeeruking murree shoo rrread an shaak shoo.
[Translation: I have been practicing for a month. Master's been helping me to read and speak too.]
